About Bendiga House

Research indicates that, ' for people who are adequately supported and have the functional capacity, transitioning to living in a community setting (as opposed to in-patient treatment or psychiatric hospital facilities) is an important step in attaining recovery'.

This is precisely our goal at Bendiga House.

Bendiga House for Independent Living is a Non-Profit Organisation that provides long-term care and support for adults with diagnosed mental health issues/mood disorders.

The objective is to provide a safe, caring and comfortable home. House rules aim at fostering a friendly, harmonious and co-operative atmosphere in which individuals can recognise and utilise their unique strengths in the service of achieving greater emotional and behavioural stability.

Residents may remain at Bendiga until they become too frail or ill and require specialised care.

Please note that Bendiga House is not a medical facility and does not accept responsibility for general medical treatment.

Bendiga House is a residential facility which provides single or shared accommodation for a maximum of 10 residents, 24 hour in-house supervision and a therapeutic programme by a multi-disciplinary team.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate individuals who are physically or cognitively challenged, persistently manic, aggressive, actively display suicidal tendencies, requiring medical attention for eating disorders, actively abusing any substance, or are non-compliant with prescribed medications.

The very spacious residence offers ultra-modern interior and outdoor facilities such as an outside braai area, swimming pool, table tennis and exercise equipment.

The house is situated in a quiet residential area in Table View, close to the MyCiti bus route, shopping malls, library, fitness centres, etc., and about one kilometre from the highly popular Blouberg beach. The area of Blouberg was chosen because of the infrastructure as well as recreational facilities in the area.

Bendiga House is managed by an in-house Social Worker (registered with SACSSP) and is licensed with the Department of Health.

If you are looking for a long-term mental health residential facility for yourself, a loved one, or a client of your organisation, please contact us directly by visiting our Contacts Page for residency criteria and costs.
